Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11 am–9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Pittsburgh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Super cute location. I love the having to go downstairs. It felt much more authentic and intimate. I researched this place before I went. I was so excited to go. My husband got the 3 in 1. He loved it. However, I got the pork rib noodles and they were EXTREMELY spicy. I tasted only the broth and nothing else and my eyes began to water and I started coughing. I called the waiter over and he immediately began to call me a liar and tell me they were not spicy. I agreed that according to the menu, they should not be, however THEY WERE. He continued to gaslight me condescendingly. I tasted them again in front of him and I immediately began to cry and cough from the spiciness. He then tried to tell me that I was confusing the temperature for the taste. Ridiculous. I am not sure what happened in their kitchen, whether they always use a level of spice of whether they thought I might enjoy it. Maybe they ran out of the broth that should've been used. Whatever is was, it was poor service. I also ordered the pork bun which was so dry it got stuck in my throat. I don't even know what that was about. So very disappointed. If course I still paid and tipped because, I'm a decent human being. If o

Used to be a regular here and always gave the benefit of the doubt — inconsistent quality, overly processed claypot dishes and all. Today I came to pick up a takeout order and ran into a friend who was dining in. We offered to tip and clean up after ourselves. All I wanted was to sit next to my friend and eat my roujiamo while she had her meal. The owner refused. It was 2pm, the restaurant was more than half empty, my friend was already a paying dine-in customer, and I wasn’t asking for anything free. When I asked for a reason, the owner couldn’t give one — just mumbled and repeated “no.” I went next door, sat down, and opened my takeout box. That’s when it clicked: the takeout and dine-in food are clearly not prepared to the same standard. That one detail explains the refusal better than the owner ever could.

So amazing! Noodles are insanely silky. The chili oil dumplings were juicy. Very friendly staff as well. Great little spot.

Grew up in China, and I can honestly say this is the most authentic and delicious northern-style noodle place I’ve found in Pittsburgh. Every bowl reminds me of home. The flavors are spot on, the portions are generous, and the prices are very fair. It’s quickly become my favorite Chinese restaurant in the city. The only “problem” is it’s so good that there’s often a wait during meal times — but it’s absolutely worth it. I really hope the owner can move to a bigger space someday, because a restaurant this special truly deserves a long-lasting place here in Pittsburgh.
